Growing up in a small seaside city in China and idolizing "The Devil Wears Prada," Shaoyang's biggest dream was to live in NYC and work as a journalist. She achieved this dream after obtaining a journalism degree from the University of Missouri and Waseda University in Tokyo. During her studies, Shaoyang worked as a producer at an NBC Missouri affiliate, a production assistant for "The Amazing Race," and an art director at a school magazine.

After graduating from college, Shaoyang worked at Avenue Magazine as an art assistant for a rebranding project in collaboration with Pentagram. Motivated by this experience, she pursued further education at the School of Visual Arts under the guidance of Steve Heller, Stefan Sagmister, and Brian Collins.

Shaoyang now works as an art director at Wieden + Kennedy in Portland, Oregon. Meanwhile, her artworks are exhibited across the nation. 

Shaoyang firmly believes that design serves as a communication bridge to connect people and sharing stories across language and cultural barriers.
